After Jumbo's tragic end, Barnum toured with the skeleton. He donated the hide to Tufts which made their mascot the elephant in honor of the donation made in 1885. Barnum also sent a piece of the tusk back to England as a remembrance of the "children's pet". (1950.2.1)
