Phineas Taylor Barnum

On February 18, 1893, two years after the death of P.T. Barnum, ceremonies marked the opening of The Barnum Museum of Science and History, a gift he pledged would be home to the Bridgeport Scientific Society, Medical Association, and the Fairfield County Historical Society. Since its founding, the Museum has collected and displayed images, prized possessions, and family memorabilia from P.T. Barnum. To illustrate his life in pictures and words, we have collected objects related to him and quotes direct from his autobiography.
